Sales & Events Executive (Maternity Cover) - Burhill Golf Club - Walton-on-Thames, Surrey

Job Type: Full Time - Maternity Cover (1st July 2024 - 30th September 2025)
Working Hours: Any 5 days in 7. Rota basis. Flex needed for weekend and some early evenings.

BACKGROUND

BURHILL GOLF CLUB is the flagship club of the BGL Group based in Walton on Thames, Surrey.

A premium members’ club with two championship golf courses, outstanding practice facilities and Grade II listed clubhouse with bars and function facilities.  The clubhouse was once the country home of the Guinness Family and used for entertaining purposes.  It has been a golf club since 1907.

The club has a full membership and operates an annual waiting list for membership.

The club picked up 3 awards in the annual BGL Award held in February -  Golf & Retail Team of the Year, Golf Course Team of the Year and General Manager of the Year.

Overview of Role

We are looking for a talented Sales Executive to help drive Golf Membership, Corporate Golf Days, and Event Sales, we are in the people business, so a personable and approachable nature is paramount, you will be a mature communicator and understand the language of golf.

Committed to providing excellent service to prospects and new members, you can multi-task to sell across multiple revenue lines and can demonstrate commercial awareness around business placement and yield. Working closely with the Sales Manager to develop and deliver a coordinated sales and marketing strategy for the facility that covers all areas of the club sales.

The ideal candidate will have experience within a similar sales role in the hospitality sector, knowledge and understanding of sales processes and able to demonstrate a track record of delivery.

  • Achieving monthly functions, group golf and membership sales targets.
  • Planning and delivering effective lead generation.
  • Handling customer sales enquiries from start to finish including prospecting and tailored tours.
  • Manage membership renewals and retention strategies.
  • Maintain a consistent presence and positive image of the venue via social media and public platforms.
  • Processing customer information accurately onto both the prospect and booking systems.
  • Contributing to the marketing planner for the business with scope to implement your own ideas.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and clients for functions and events.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of industry trends in order that you can influence strategic decisions.
  • Assist the Sales Manager in maintaining and delivering club wide promotional plans.
