Project Lead Adult Weight Management - Sandwell, West Midlands

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Type of Contract: Permanent

ABL Health have been commissioned by Sandwell metropolitan borough council to deliver a high quality and Tier 2 Adult Weight management Service across the Sandwell borough. The Project Lead will assist the Head of Service for the development and operational management of the Adult Weight Management Service in the community, primary care, and secondary care settings. This is a leadership role where the post holder will have a real influence on the clinical and operational excellence of these elements of the service. The post holder will take a pro-active lead in building relationships, partnerships and alliances in the community, secondary care, and primary care settings, and supporting health lifestyle practitioners in these areas to deliver outcomes that benefit clients referred to the service. They will be responsible for the line management of staff covering the Sandwell borough.

The post holder must have extensive knowledge and hand’s-on experience in public health or behaviour-change settings.

Skills and Competencies Required

  • Be an experienced health professional with a knowledge of weight management
  • Leadership skills and the ability to support staff in achieving high quality outcomes
  • Experience of evolving and developing services
  • Positive and proactive outlook with the ability to motivate, engage and support others to achieve the highest standards and outcomes.
  • Adept in communication; A strong communicator who adapts the message to fit the needs of the audience including clients, staff, and volunteers at all levels
  • Build strong relationships, foster trust and co-operation among colleagues, stakeholders throughout community settings
  • Quality driven; you naturally seek high standards and actively seek to improve them.
  • Value and remain open to new ideas and perspectives.

Some of the essential criteria for the role:

  • Degree (or equivalent experience) in the health-related field: e.g. Nutrition, Fitness, Dietetics, Nursing, Public Health.
  • Level 3 CIMSPA recognised qualification in personal training and group exercise. 
  • Experience in managing and inspiring teams and partners to achieve KPI’s.
  • Experience in using data (service data, population health data) to inform service development to improve outcomes.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to influence others to increase motivation and performance.
  • Developing high performing teams.
  • Understanding of clinical and operational governance.
  • Work flexibly and adapt to suit service needs including some evening and weekend work.
  • Willingness to travel across the service footprint.
