What you'll be doing
- Leading, motivating and training/developing a team to consistently develop and improve while also bringing new ideas to the business and achieving tangible cost effective results.
- Building and maintaining excellent client relationships, by understanding their changing requirements and responding proactively to meet client’s needs.
- Active and engaged management of operational performance of the team to deliver the highest standards of customer service to our clients.
- Ensuring the highest standards in health and safety, food safety and hygiene are adhered to at all times.
- Maintaining and developing excellent working relationships with all key stakeholders in the business.
- Ensure the day-to-day food service is delivered in line with contractual need to include any dining activity, bar service, cleaning services
- Ensure all team members are coached, mentored and trained to undertake their daily tasks to meet the business need
- Ensure effective management of consumables and sundries associated with delivery and undertake regular and accurate stock checks as required
- Place orders to support the delivery using the correct and approved suppliers
- Ensure teams carry out stock rotation and assist with stock checks as required
- Ensure daily cleaning standards of all service areas utilising health checks and assurance tools
- Preparation of any other public facing areas as required including set up for hospitality events
- Ensure teams follow food hygiene and safety procedures in line with health and safety requirements
- Carry out regular team briefs and safety briefs as required
Experience requirements
- An approved catering qualification at diploma/degree level and /or 5 years industry experience, 2 of which were at management or department head level with a strong background in a high volume hospitality, conference and banqueting operation.
- Strong hotel or restaurant background would be very important for this role as well as a background in industrial catering.
- Demonstrates excellent people management skills with experience of managing large teams of staff.
- A passion for food and service and the ability to innovate in this area.
- A high degree of knowledge of Food Hygiene including HACCP.
- The ability to manage in a diverse and pressurised environment with a focus on client and customer services.
- Commercially focused, experience with budgets and a proven ability to achieve stretching commercial targets.
- Actively seeks change, a self-motivator and is ready to challenge in the interest of continuous improvement
