Diving Programme Manager & Coach - Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire
Purpose
The Diving Programme Manager and coach will be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and management of the entire diving programme at the Aberdeen Sports Village Aquatics Centre.
Grade
Starting £26,704.86
Hours of work
Full-time – 36.5 hours per week
This appointment will be made subject to the terms and conditions of employment of Aberdeen Sports Village. ASV will request a PVG Scheme Record prior to employment.
Duties
- To develop, plan, co-ordinate and manage a comprehensive range of diving activities at ASV’s Aquatics Centre; including learn to dive, diving camps, Aberdeen Diving Club, adult diving, recreational diving and Talent Identification.
To perform the duties of Head Coach for Aberdeen Diving Club. - Support the development of divers throughout the diving pathway, providing a quality learning environment for all ages and abilities.
- Line management of the Assistant Diving Coordinator & Coach, a team of diving coaches; including recruitment, induction, training and mentoring.
- Coach a variety of diving sessions, as required, as part of the diving programme.
- Lead on the evaluation and continual improvement of the diving programme.
- Plan, deliver and review coaching sessions, training cycles and competition plans for Aberdeen Diving Club squads.
- Identify, meet and build relationships with potential customers and user groups of the facility, including community groups, schools and further education organisations.
- Liaise with relevant UK agencies and UK governing bodies to ensure best practice, innovation in the sector and place ASV at the forefront of development activities.
- Through liaison with local schools, relevant sports clubs, and ASV children’s programmes, increase the exposure of the sport, offering various opportunities for participation and talent identification.
- To maintain the highest standards of teaching, health and safety and customer care in accordance with the facilities operating procedures and communicating effectively with customers, facility managers, programme staff, customers and external agencies.
- Responsible for co-ordinating facility bookings, session bookings and coach rotas for all diving activities, as appropriate.
- Achieve and maintain Aquamark.
- Ensure full engagement as appropriate with the Scottish Swimming National Diving Programme and the wider Scottish Diving Development Plan.
- Deal with general queries, feedback from customers and day to day administration.
- To assist the Head of Marketing and Communications to promote the diving programme.
- Initiate the administrative and financial documentation for all programme admissions.
- To construct and implement ASV’s sports development objectives and KPI’s that contribute to the ASV strategy.
- Ensure the effective management and utilisation of the financial resources, in line with the company’s financial regulations.
- To provide evaluation and continual development of the programmes, providing regular reports on progress against targets and budgets, as requested
Qualifications
- UKCC Level 2 Coaching Diving qualification or equivalent
- Industry related higher education / further education qualification
Experience
- At least 3 years relevant experience within a diving development programme
- Proven track record of coaching and developing divers across a variety of age and ability groups
- Demonstrable mentoring experience
- Experience in a customer facing role
- Knowledge of the Scottish Swimming coaching pathways and National Framework

- The Diving Programme Manager & coach will directly Line manage and supervise the Assistant Diving Coordinator & Coach, a team of diving coaches
