Sports Development Manager - Portsmouth, Hampshire

The role:

BH Live is seeking a talented and ambitious Sports Development Manager to join our team. As the Sports Development Manager, you will ensure that all Portsmouth City residents have the opportunity to take part in sports regardless of their background. Working closely with the leisure management teams, you will support and lead a diverse range of activity programmes, which are innovative and increase participation in sporting and leisure activities.

You will:

• Create and deliver a sports activity and marketing plan across our Portsmouth sites.
• You’ll work closely with the leisure management team to implement, develop and monitor the action plan set out for community sports in Portsmouth.
• Help support, train, and develop colleagues, coaches and volunteers.
• Provide reports and identify potential areas of improvement for our stakeholders.
•  Attend local, regional, and national meetings. As well as seminars and conferences to improve your understanding and knowledge of what we can do to improve and encourage participation in sport and encourage people to access our services.
• You’ll be responsible for managing budgets and identifying opportunities for external funding to help improve our services.
• You’ll have a real passion for wanting to make a difference in our community.

To be successful you will need:

• Ideally, you will hold a degree in leisure studies/sports development or PE.
• Sports coaching experience and hold a relevant qualification to at least Level 2
• Excellent communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with all sectors of our community.
• Experience in managing and motivating high performing teams.  
• To live locally in or around the Portsmouth area.
• To be able to travel.
