Job Description for Kitchen Porter
Reporting to: Head Chef and other members of kitchen brigade for day-to-day operation
Job Purpose
To assist in providing clean and hygienic food service and food preparation areas throughout the site.
Responsible for all washing up and disposal of waste. On occasions responsible for some aspects of food service to customers in line with the CH&CO brand.
To work on a shift basis as required by the business.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Food Production
- To complete duties in the kitchen and service areas as directed that are necessary to ensure an
- efficient, hygienic service is provided.
- To assist with food preparation as required.
- To transport all food items, cleaning materials and laundry from the delivery area to kitchen storerooms and to kitchen preparation areas as required.
- Responsible for the cleaning of kitchen floors, walls, waste bins, hot plates, kitchen equipment,
- canopies, delivery areas, storerooms, walk in fridges, and all other areas as necessary to ensure an
- hygienic kitchen and service areas.
- To clean, wash, dry and polish all kitchen equipment and service items by hand or machine in an
- efficient manner.
- Operate all necessary sterilising equipment.
- To operate all heavy equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Responsible for the correct disposal and any recycling of all rubbish.
