Hours – Permanent – 35 hours a week (Any 5 of 7)

What We’re Looking For:

Chelsea FC are looking for a Management Accountant to work within the Finance Team in the delivery of finance activities that include budgeting, forecasting, month and year end processes, with a focus on the Club’s football-related departments.

Brief description and duties:

  • Providing accurate and timely information at all times.
  • Responsibility for preparing and maintaining key Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensuring all Player transfer/intermediary/contract agreements are accurately reflected in Club accounts.
  • Forecasting and providing commentary and variance analysis on a monthly basis to key stakeholders.
  • Encourages the concept of adding value to the business.
  • Working with team members to ensure Player Transfer payments/receipts are accurately reflected in cash flow forecasts.
  • Identifying cost savings and inefficiencies for designated area.
  • Assist the Financial Reporting team in the preparation for the interim and year end audit.
  • Providing continuous reviews and improvements of existing processes.

Skills and Behaviours:

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy coupled with IT literacy and the ability to gather both quantitative and qualitative data and analyse and interpret it and communicate conclusions and recommendations in a clear and compelling way
  • Has the ability to propose, justify, initiate and implement change and problem solving
  • Assertive, self-starter who works effectively and efficiently whilst demonstrating resilience and responsiveness to issues in a rapidly changing environment. An ability to work with senior stakeholders to persuade and challenge in the face of resistance and ambiguity.
  • Excellent team working skills which embody proactivity, enthusiasm and a hands on approach
  • Appreciation and experience of working with sensitive and confidential information

Must Haves/qualified by demonstrable experience to the level required: 

  • Higher education and qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
