Sports Direct Malaysia is currently looking for Buyer to join our growing team. 

Malaysia marks the first direct retail investment in Asia through a joint venture partnership with Malaysian owned MST Golf Group of companies, a well-established golf retailer and service provider in the region. Sports Direct Malaysia currently operates a total of 32 retail stores domestically and manages a proprietary SportsDirect.com e-commerce site for domestic and regional fulfillment. We have developed a new generation of stores as part of our multi channel elevation strategy, to enhance the customer experience at every step of the journey. The stores are uniquely zoned by key sports categories which include; SD Football, SD Running, SD Training (fitness, cross training, gym equipment, weights, boxing, yoga), SD Rackets (badminton, tennis, squash), SD Swimming (pool, beach, water sports), SD Sports (basketball, rugby, extreme games, cycling, skates & indoor games), SD Lifestyle (Men, Women & Kids) & SD Outdoor (Hiking, trekking, camping & fishing).


Job Description

Responsibilities:               

Your responsibilities as Buyer will include but not limited to:

  • Responsible for barcode creation.
  • Sales and Margin performance tracking for assigned brands/categories.
  • Perform 3rd Party Season Buy and UK group brand buy based on requirements and budget.
  • Monitor and ensure on-time delivery of stocks from suppliers.
  • Managing stock allocation to outlets.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to agree prices, quantities, delivery schedules and exclusivity deals.
  • Review products sell through and inventory level to achieve company targeted cover week
  • Conduct market research and competitor survey to stay abreast of sports fashion market trends.
  • Any other assignments as directed by immediate superior as and when required.

Besides that, you will be given the Brand Partnership portfolio with the following responsibilities:             

  • Building relationships with brands, maintaining positive working relationships with brand.
  • Track and analyse the brand performance measuring key metrics such as sales, contribution, margin and stocks cover weeks.
  • Negotiation and contract management on Trade Term, Promotion Supports Fund, and review contract to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Coordinate Brand Season Sell in Schedule and Meetings arrangement with suppliers.
  • Work closely with Call-Off team on the monthly shipment intake plan.
  • Conduct market research and competitor survey to understand sports retail market.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, in Purchasing or its equivalent.
  • At least 3 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
  • Suppliers' relationship management.
  • Possess analytical ability and negotiation skills.
  • Buyer/ merchandiser experiences from similar industry will be an added advantage.
